Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mats Jonsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bible Basher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonsson throws the kick towards the body but Basher avoids it.
Jonsson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Basher drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jonsson is letting Basher control him for a moment.
Jonsson wants to get back to his feet.
Basher tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Jonsson is looking for a sweep.
Basher trying to control the action but Jonsson is working from the bottom.

Basher moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Jonsson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Bible Basher dominated that round.
That's time! Jonsson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jonsson stalks Basher and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Basher's face. Basher staggers backwards, shaken.
Basher misses with a takedown attempt - Jonsson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Basher can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Basher counters by clinching up.
Jonsson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Basher counters with a single leg into guard. Jonsson didn't expect that.
Basher postures up in Jonsson's guard and throws a big left but Jonsson blocks it.
Jonsson is trying to control the position but Basher postures up.
Jonsson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Basher is controlling him.
Jonsson pulls Basher in close to prevent any damage.

Jonsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Basher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jonsson pulls Basher in to control the position.
Jonsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Basher's guard.
Jonsson advances position into side control!
Jonsson stands up.
Jonsson tries to clinch
and Basher counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jonsson's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jonsson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Basher is one step ahead there.
Basher trying to control the position from guard on top but Jonsson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Basher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jonsson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Basher wants to control from the top but Jonsson keeps moving.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Basher's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Basher thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jonsson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Basher fails with the takedown
and Jonsson counters with a one-two to the body.
Mats Jonsson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bible Basher.
Basher feints and as Jonsson raises his hands in defense, Basher changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jonsson wriggles free and stands up.
Jonsson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Basher wants to get back to full guard.
Jonsson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Basher manages to regain half guard. Good work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jonsson is trying to work for a kimura but Basher is defending well.
Basher won't allow Jonsson to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Mats Jonsson will probably get the nod.

Basher closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Basher lands in his opponent's guard.

Basher has gone for a leg lock! Jonsson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Basher's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Basher wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jonsson is sitting in close to Basher's body. Basher has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Jonsson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Jonsson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Basher.
