PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kim Daisoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Eriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kim Daisoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Freddy Eriksson!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eriksson drives through and clinches with Daisoo against the cage.
Eriksson prevents Daisoo from breaking the clinch.
Eriksson keeps control of Daisoo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Daisoo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Eriksson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Eriksson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daisoo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Eriksson wants to escape the position.
Daisoo is looking to control Eriksson but Eriksson is wriggling around and keeping busy.

You can see the frustration on Eriksson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eriksson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Daisoo.
Daisoo throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Daisoo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Eriksson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Eriksson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Daisoo is breathing heavily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
I looks like Eriksson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Daisoo tries to get to full guard but Eriksson has control of the leg.
Well, if Eriksson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Eriksson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Daisoo shoots in looking for a takedown. Eriksson tries to sprawl out of it but Daisoo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Eriksson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Daisoo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Daisoo gets to his feet. Eriksson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Eriksson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Daisoo tries to stand and escape but Eriksson actually recovers to full guard.

Eriksson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Daisoo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Eriksson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Daisoo's back instead.

Eriksson is looking for the choke from the back position but Daisoo is controlling his hands well.

Daisoo is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Eriksson.
I really don't envy Daisoo right now.
Eriksson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Eriksson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Daisoo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Eriksson's guard. Nice work there by Daisoo.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eriksson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Daisoo looks to score with a jab to the body but Eriksson is just out of range.
Daisoo pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Daisoo doesn't manage to clinch there - Eriksson circles away.
Daisoo shoots in but Eriksson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Kim Daisoo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Eriksson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Eriksson showed some decent athleticism there.
Eriksson is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Eriksson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Daisoo smiles and moves away.

Eriksson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Daisoo to the mat! Daisoo manages to get full guard.
Daisoo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Eriksson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Eriksson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Daisoo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Freddy Eriksson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Despite being in the dominant position, Freddy Eriksson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Daisoo is looking to stand up but Eriksson isn't so interested in that idea.
Daisoo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Daisoo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Eriksson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Daisoo tries to avoid it but Eriksson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Daisoo to the ground. Daisoo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kim Daisoo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddy Eriksson.

Daisoo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Eriksson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
