Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuki Kanahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki comes to the cage accompanied by come as you are. Yuki Kanahara has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kanahara.
Kanahara blocks a head kick by Aoki.
Kanahara swats away the attempt to clinch by Aoki.
Kanahara keeps the fight on the outside.
Aoki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kanahara looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kanahara stuffs the takedown attempt from Aoki. Aoki gets slowly back to his feet.
Kanahara fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aoki sprawls well initially but Kanahara persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kanahara wants to take a breather but Aoki is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kanahara in particular looking to stall.

Kanahara tries to advance to mount but can't.
Kanahara tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kanahara has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kanahara wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aoki keeps working.
Kanahara stands up.
Kanahara moves into the clinch successfully.
Kanahara drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aoki pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shinya Aoki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuki Kanahara.
Kanahara misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Aoki.
Aoki throws a right hand that Kanahara ducks under and follows up with a left that Kanahara also avoids with ease.
Aoki instigates a clinch.
Aoki goes for a takedown attempt but Kanahara pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Aoki shoots and misses
and Kanahara counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Aoki's guard now.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Aoki has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kanahara is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Aoki.

Aoki is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kanahara off and has taken his back!

Aoki is persistently looking for the submission but Kanahara is defending it well.

Aoki is trying to stick to Kanahara's back but Kanahara is turning into Aoki. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Aoki's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kanahara.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Aoki wants to take his opponent's back but Kanahara doesn't allow it.
Kanahara reaches up to try and control the position but Aoki seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Kanahara rolls and tries to escape and now Aoki has his back!
Aoki is not going to allow Kanahara to sit and survive in this position.
I really don't envy Kanahara right now.
Aoki gets his hands free as Kanahara looks to control.
