PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Blusen Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Unigu Rege (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grey kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Mapmaker. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rege rushes Grey and presses him up against the cage.
Grey avoiding damage as Rege throws knees to the body.

Grey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Grey lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rege circles away quickly and effectively.
Grey throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Grey tests Rege's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Rege counters with a single leg into guard. Grey didn't expect that.
Rege trying to control the position from guard on top but Grey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Grey utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rege accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rege decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Grey, up you get!
Grey bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Grey gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rege to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rege has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rege is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Grey is just riding it out for now. Rege eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rege is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rege uses his free foot to push down on Grey's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Grey.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Rege. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Rege stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Let's hope that Rege has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
