Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Monk comes to the cage accompanied by My Ding-a-ling. Barker has chosen The Way of the Fist - Five Finger Death Punch as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Monk! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Barker! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monk throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Barker to counter with a crisp jab. Monk checks a leg kick nicely. Monk cracks a nice hook into Barker's ribs. Barker scores with a crisp jab that stopped Monk in his tracks. Barker swings widly with a right hand
and Monk counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like William Barker has been cut. A slapping leg kick lands for Barker.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Barker - that will leave a mark!
Barker explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Monk moves away. Barker lands a jab. Barker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Monk counters with a stiff right hand. Barker misses with a kick to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monk misses with an uppercut
and Barker counters with an outside leg kick.
Barker throws a jab but it's blocked by Monk. Monk takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

and Barker counters with a series of strikes. Monk will be more careful next time no doubt. Barker wants to clinch up but Monk keeps it at a distance. Barker tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Monk swings away with a body shot that misses
and Barker counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Monk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barker manages to avoid it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Barker trying to pass the guard but Monk defending well. Monk blocking the ground and pound attempt from Barker. Monk won't allow Barker to pass to mount. Monk trying to control here.
Barker is looking for a kimura here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Monk won't allow Barker to pass to mount. Barker prevents Monk from improving his position. Barker scoring with strikes to the body and head. Barker is thwarting Monk's attempts to control the position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barker connects with a nice short shot to Monk's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barker lands an overhand right. Monk misses with a lunging right hand
and Barker finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Barker. Monk does a little dance to reset his feet. Monk swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. An inside leg kick lands from Barker. Barker throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Barker tries to bum rush Monk with a series of wild strikes but Monk uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Barker misses with a leg kick and Monk counters with a three punch combo that has Barker backing up. Barker nods at Monk to acknowledge the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barker jabs Monk right on the nose. Monk blinks but takes it well. Barker throws a leg kick that is checked and Monk counters with a nice body shot. Monk scores with a spinning back kick! Barker throws a leg kick and Monk makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Good work by Monk as he checks the leg kick. A jab from Barker misses. Barker misses with an uppercut
and Monk makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monk misses with a right hand and Barker counters with a nice double leg into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Barker wants to pass the guard but Monk is keeping the position. Monk working a defensive guard but Barker manages to pass into side control anyway.
Monk is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Barker's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Monk is pressing down on Barker's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Monk is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barker has his foot on Monk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Monk works his way back into a safe position though. Monk got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Monk has managed to get both his arms back between Barker's legs - danger averted. Monk wants to pass the guard but Barker is keeping the position. Monk trying to control the position from guard on top but Barker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Barker looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Barker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Monk manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Marcus Monk will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on William Barker's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Monk circles away from the clinch attempt.
Barker throws a nice inside leg kick. Barker thows a body kick. Monk tries to catch it but that hurt him. Monk swings widly with a right hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Barker throws a leg kick and Monk counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Barker moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monk is looking to score with low kicks. Barker scores with a leg kick.
Barker tries to clinch up but Monk circles away and keeps his distance. Monk wants to slow Barker down by chopping away at his legs. Barker misses with a hook. Barker connects with a good right hand that stumbles Monk. Monk circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Monk gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Barker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monk keeping full guard, as Barker tries to pass. Barker passes Monk's left leg - he's now in half guard. Barker prevents Monk from improving his position. Barker is looking for a kimura here.

Monk is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Barker scores with a couple of nice shots. Barker wants to work for an arm triangle but Monk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Barker thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are battling for position here. Monk manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barker has gone for a leg lock! Monk slips out almost immediately though and dives into Barker's guard. Barker is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Monk defends well. Barker tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Barker seems to be getting the better of the standup. Barker goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barker connects with a high kick. Barker tries to land a body kick and Monk counters with a nice uppercut.

Barker closes the distance and clinches up with Monk, looking for a takedown. Barker pushes Monk against the cage but Monk circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Monk throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Barker counters with a nice leg kick. Monk attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Monk lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Barker at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Monk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barker manages to avoid it. Barker throws a sloppy head kick and Monk counters with a nice body shot. Barker blocks a jab. Monk swings for the body but Barker moves out of range.

Monk has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Barker. Monk throws a lazy right hand but Barker sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Monk throws a low kick but it's checked well by Barker. Barker tries to score with a low kick but Monk moves his leg out of the way. Monk takes one to the chin there. Monk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Barker. Marcus Monk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Barker. Monk paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Monk loads up on a big right hand but Barker slips the punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Monk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Barker manages to avoid it. Barker misses with a leg kick and Monk counters with a left to the body. Barker rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Monk counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Barker throws a leg kick and Monk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Monk lands a nice shot that snaps Barker's head back.
William Barker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Monk throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Barker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus Monk had his way with William Barker in that round. The cut man is working on William Barker's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Monk bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Barker's head. Monk tries a low kick but Barker avoids it. Monk catches Barker with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Barker throws a looping overhand right but Monk ducks down to avoid it. Monk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Barker takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barker wants to clinch and Monk connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Barker looks to throw a body kick and Monk counters with a nice body kick.
A low kick from Monk misses and Barker counters with a leg kick. Monk cracks Barker with a right hand to the side of the head. Barker throws a nice head kick!
Monk gets off balance looking for a body kick enabling Barker to counter with a crisp jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barker lets loose with a powerful body kick. Monk will feel that in the morning. Monk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Barker throws a leg kick but Monk checks it. Monk loads up on a big right hand but Barker slips the punch. Barker misses with a shot to the body and Monk cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Barker is looking to slow Monk down with leg kicks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barker misses with a wild body shot. Monk throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Barker fails to land with a series of punches.
Barker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. A left lands for Monk. Monk is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Barker thows a body shot but no joy. Monk slips under a jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Monk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Barker avoids a punch combination nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Barker looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Monk will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Barker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
And that's the end of the fight! Marcus Monk showed his dominance in that final round. I think Monk has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
