Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jethro Sherdog! The judges for this bout are , and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sherdog fails with the takedown and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Sherdog looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Sherdog looking for submissions off his back. Jones sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sherdog defending well though. Sherdog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Sherdog is looking to improve his position.
Jones prevents Sherdog from standing back up.
Jones is trying to work for a kimura but Sherdog is defending well.
Jones moves into full mount! Sherdog won't be happy about that! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones prevents Sherdog from getting the reversal. Jones wants to finish this one by submission but Sherdog is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jones.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones wants to control the pace but Sherdog is squirming around nicely. Jones breaks from Sherdog's wrist control and lands an elbow. Sherdog is looking to improve his position but Jones isn't that keen on the idea. Jones working for a guillotine from mount but Sherdog is in no mood to give up. Sherdog is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Jones is standing up, even though he is in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherdog shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Sherdog is looking to sinch up a triangle. Jones throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sherdog's body to avoid the submission. Sherdog has instead reached around Jones's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sherdog arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
