Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alfie Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson's entrance music is Enter Sandman. A fine choice. Nelson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Kings of Kings kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson closes the distance but Anderson moves to the side and Anderson counters with a series of strikes. Nelson will be more careful next time no doubt. A chopping leg kick lands by Anderson. Nelson takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Nelson gets caught napping as Anderson dives in and scores a takedown. Nelson manages to retain guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Anderson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nelson is keeping the position for now. Nelson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Anderson controls the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Alfie Anderson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Anderson looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
A head kick by Nelson misses and Anderson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Nelson is trying is best to control the position here. Nelson is looking to escape. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Anderson drives through and clinches with Nelson against the cage.

Nelson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Anderson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nelson to the mat. Nelson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Anderson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson cracks Nelson with a solid left hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Anderson gets to his feet. Nelson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Nelson looks gassed! Nelson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Anderson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Anderson misses with a body punch
and Nelson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Anderson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nelson's guard. Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Anderson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Anderson tries to bum rush Nelson with a series of wild strikes but Nelson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Alfie Anderson is winning the standup battle so far. Nelson lands with a slapping head kick. Anderson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Anderson is in Nelson's guard. Anderson trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Alfie Anderson wasn't doing enough on the ground. Nelson lands a head kick!
Anderson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nelson to the ground. Anderson is now in Nelson's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Alfie Anderson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Anderson digs a good hook to Nelson's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A combination from Anderson does no damage. Anderson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nelson quickly recovers to half guard. Anderson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Nelson still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Nelson has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Nelson trying to control the position but Anderson is working away. Nelson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Anderson to see if he's OK. Nelson throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson is not content to let Nelson control the position. Anderson is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Alfie Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nelson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working. Nelson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Anderson regains half guard, as Nelson was trying to land strikes. Nelson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Nelson is trying to work for a kimura but Anderson is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Anderson keeps working. Nelson tries to pass to full mount but Anderson defends it. Anderson is defending against the submission attempts here by Nelson.
Nelson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Nelson wants to take a breather but Anderson is having none of it. Nelson seems to be working for a kimura but Anderson defends the submission attempt. Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nelson can do to turn this around? Nelson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Anderson is just riding it out for now. Nelson eventually gives up the hold. Nelson works his way into side control. Nelson landing strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alfie Anderson. Well Anderson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
