The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staton dips to his left and cracks Saari with an uppercut!

Staton looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Saari puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Staton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Staton is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Saari pulls his head out easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Saari can do anything to dispel that myth.
Staton is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Saari is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Staton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Saari swivels and escapes.

Saari connects with a good right hand that stumbles Staton. Staton circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Saari throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Staton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Saari misses with a hook. Staton ducked under it nicely.
Saari stuffs the takedown attempt from Staton. Staton gets slowly back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Staton counters with a single leg into guard. Saari didn't expect that.
Staton postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Staton wants to control from the top but Saari keeps moving.
Saari is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Staton is controlling him.

Saari throws an overhand right that lands on Staton's shoulder, as Staton tries to avoid the shot.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown by Staton or perhaps it was just good defense by Saari which made him look bad.

Staton displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Saari throws out the jab.

Henry Saari has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Staton fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Saari manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Saari is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Staton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Staton's back!

Staton can't escape the position.
Staton reaches up to try and control the position but Saari seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Staton rolls and tries to escape and now Saari has his back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jeremy Staton showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Staton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
