Zakarova has chosen Song of the Volga Boatmen as his entrance music. Mikhail Zakarova has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ace Ventura's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ventura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ventura showed some decent athleticism there.
Zakarova wants to get back to full guard.
Zakarova is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Zakarova trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Ventura manages to pass to mount!

Zakarova is looking to improve his position but Ventura isn't that keen on the idea.
Zakarova bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Zakarova decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Zakarova is looking to score with low kicks.
Zakarova connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Ventura shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Zakarova counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Ventura cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Zakarova swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Ventura counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Zakarova has Ventura pulled in close to control his posture.

Zakarova is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ventura is aware though and is defending well.

Zakarova bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ventura's guard.

Ventura moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Zakarova throws a front kick that sends Ventura stumbling back into the cage.
Zakarova throws a looping overhand right but Ventura ducks down to avoid it.

and Ventura counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Zakarova gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Ventura counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zakarova takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Zakarova tries a low kick but Ventura avoids it.

and Zakarova counters with a nice uppercut.

and Ventura counters with a lovely straight right hand!

so Ventura counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Ventura has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Zakarova to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ventura is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Zakarova pulls down on the head and he's put Ventura to sleep! This one is all over!
