Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Travis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, jack Hammer! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammer misses with the combination.
jack Hammer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Travis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Travis keeps the fight on the outside. Hammer has his takedown stuffed enabling Travis to counter with a crisp jab. Travis cracks Hammer with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Hammer is rocked!
It looks like jack Hammer has been cut. Travis blocks a low kick nicely. Hammer with a lazy takedown attempt and Travis counters with a lovely straight right hand! Hammer is still on wobbly legs! Can Travis finish him? Travis circles away from the clinch attempt and Travis counters with a single leg into guard. Hammer didn't expect that. Travis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Travis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Travis is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Travis distracts Hammer with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Travis slips nicely into half guard. Hammer seems to have recovered his senses. Nice strikes from Travis there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Travis scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Travis lands strikes from half guard. Hammer looks gassed! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Travis lands a nice short elbow. Travis is nestled in close to Hammer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Hammer looks like he's trying to stand up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Travis connects with a nice short shot to Hammer's temple. Travis throwing shots but Hammer is blocking nicely. Ground and pound from Travis. Travis could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hammer manages to escape and get back to his feet! Travis throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hammer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Travis ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Good exchange - Hammer coming out on top.
Travis is rocked! Hammer connects with a stiff jab that staggers Travis - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
