Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thor Axxe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Funky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Funky closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Funky throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Funky is trying to get an arm triangle but Axxe is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Axxe parries the strikes from Funky easily there. Funky is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Axxe to escape.
Funky postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Funky is looking to take a break and control but Axxe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Axxe managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Funky.

Funky throws an elbow but Axxe slips to the side and avoids it well.
Funky tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Funky scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Axxe to see if he's OK.

Funky creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Axxe sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Funky thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Axxe prevents Funky from moving into mount.
Funky throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Funky has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Axxe is not content to let Funky control the position.

Funky misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
