Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Xavier David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David's entrance music is Bring The Pain. A fine choice. Anthony Johnson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xavier David! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Johnson! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson moves into the clinch. David changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Johnson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Johnson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to David's calf. Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by David which made him look bad. David fails with the takedown and Johnson counters with a nice body kick. Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around David's waist but David gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side. David is looking to clinch. Johnson tries to clinch there but David circles away.
David with a lazy takedown attempt and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xavier David. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson won't allow David to sweep him here. David escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. David lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson! David will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. David is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! This has been an exciting period of action! David fails with the takedown and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson lands a damaging elbow. David breaks from the clinch.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. David slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. David is breathing heavily. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Johnson wanted to stand there but David had control of the position. Johnson looking to pass the guard. Johnson won't allow David to sweep him here. David controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself. David is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Johnson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. David looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
David tries to land a sweep but no joy. David keeping full guard, as Johnson tries to pass. Johnson won't allow David to get back to his feet. David escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Johnson trying to control but David is working from the bottom. Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of David is proving hard to escape from. David working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but David is tightening it up a little... Johnson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Johnson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Johnson taps out! nice BJJ there by David!
