Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Day Kolos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stewie Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stewie Jones is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Day Kolos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stewie Jones!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kolos circles away from the clinch attempt

and Kolos counters with a takedown into side control.
Jones is looking for a sweep.
Kolos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jones's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kolos has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kolos's best efforts.

Kolos is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kolos is working for a submission of some sort.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jones is trying to stand up here but Kolos is controlling him well.
Kolos stalling.
Kolos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.
Kolos is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kolos controlling the position easily from mount.
Kolos trying to control but Jones is having none of it.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kolos sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jones keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Jones tries to hold on but Kolos postures up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kolos controlling the position easily from mount.
Jones is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kolos looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jones wants to try and get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kolos sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Kolos is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Kolos avoids the attempt from Jones to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Day Kolos dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kolos misses with a takedown attempt

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kolos's guard.
Kolos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kolos is working hard here to advance position.
Jones wants to stand and escape but instead Kolos has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Kolos stays in close to Jones's body and controls the position.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kolos is controlling him.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kolos trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Day Kolos wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kolos takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jones keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jones changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.

Jones swings around for an armbar but Kolos sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jones's guard.
Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kolos prevents Jones from getting back to his feet.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Kolos from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kolos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kolos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kolos trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Kolos throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jones keeping moving, preventing Kolos from controlling successfully.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kolos on his heels. He'll look to pass Kolos's guard now, I'm sure.

Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Kolos is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kolos keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stewie Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Jones jabs Kolos right on the nose. Kolos blinks but takes it well.

Jones drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jones tries to stand but Kolos is controlling from the bottom.
Jones slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kolos tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it.
Jones sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kolos is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kolos has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kolos is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Kolos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Jones clinches with his opponent.
Kolos drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Jones drags the fight down to the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kolos trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Day Kolos wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kolos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Stewie Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
