Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Morgan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Kruger! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morgan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Morgan is pressed up against the cage. Kruger has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Morgan down to the mat. Morgan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Kruger has his takedown stuffed and Morgan counters with a two punch combo. Kruger takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Kruger looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Morgan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Morgan controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Morgan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Morgan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Morgan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Morgan wanted to stand there but Kruger had control of the position. Morgan connects with a couple of short punches. Kruger wants to sweep here but Morgan controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kruger keeping moving, preventing Morgan from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morgan wants to get up but he can't break Kruger's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Morgan throwing strikes from guard but Kruger blocks nicely. Morgan wanted to stand there but Kruger had control of the position. Morgan postures up.
Morgan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kruger is keeping the position for now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kruger can do anything to dispel that myth.

We're going to have a standup here because Matt Morgan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Nice uppercut lands for Morgan. That snapped Kruger's head back.
It looks like John Kruger has been cut. Excellent takedown into side control there by Morgan. Kruger is not content to let Morgan control the position. Morgan wants to stand but Kruger is controlling his arm. A lull in the action here. Morgan is looking to take a break and control but Kruger is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Morgan is really struggling to control Kruger but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Matt Morgan just wasn't active enough. Morgan tries for a takedown but Kruger sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Kruger looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Morgan is fending him off so far but Kruger persists. Nope, Morgan circles away and we're back to standing. Matt Morgan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Kruger. Morgan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Morgan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Morgan throws a right and a left that Kruger avoids nicely. Kruger misses with a takedown and Morgan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kruger thinking. Kruger misses with a takedown and Kruger takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Morgan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice sprawl there from Morgan as Kruger shoots in. Kruger is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Morgan. Kruger looking to score a takedown here. Morgan is defending well but Kruger drives through and ends up in Morgan's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morgan keeping moving, preventing Kruger from controlling successfully. Morgan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kruger on the ground. Morgan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Morgan keeping moving, preventing Kruger from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matt Morgan dominated that round. The cut man is working on John Kruger's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kruger needs to keep his hands up - Morgan had a free shot at his head there. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Morgan has Kruger up against the cage in a clinch.

Morgan is looking to break free of the clinch but Kruger has double underhooks. Kruger is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Morgan pulls him back up using the underhooks. Kruger has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Morgan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Matt Morgan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Kruger. Morgan is stalling here.

Matt Morgan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Morgan connects with a right that clearly hurt Kruger. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Morgan proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Kruger collapses and taps out under the pressure!
