Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samson Grabowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rip James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Samson Grabowski!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Grabowski.

James gets the takedown into side control.
James is looking to take a break and control but Grabowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Grabowski takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
James remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Grabowski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Grabowski is looking for a sweep.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Grabowski is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Grabowski has escaped and now he's on top!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
James tries to clinch up but Grabowski circles away and keeps his distance.
James fails with the takedown.
James's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and James duly obliges.
James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Grabowski swivels and escapes.

James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grabowski's waist but Grabowski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rip James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James tries to clinch up but Grabowski circles away and keeps his distance.

James shoots for a double leg takedown but Grabowski sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Samson Grabowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

James postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Grabowski looks a forlorn figure.

James lands a nice shot to the head.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James has hold of Grabowski's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Grabowski manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

James with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grabowski can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grabowski keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

James tries to bum rush Grabowski with a series of wild strikes but Grabowski uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
James misses with a takedown attempt - Grabowski sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Grabowski didn't expect that.

Grabowski has his feet on James's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

James shoots in looking for a takedown. Grabowski tries to sprawl out of it but James keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Grabowski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

James is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Grabowski looks calm but he's in trouble here. James gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Grabowski is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! James lets go of the hold and Grabowski can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rip James!
