Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Murilo Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ruas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wham! Freedom. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Murilo Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Don Wilson! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas shoots in and drives through. Wilson sprawls well. Wilson darts in trying to clinch and Ruas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wilson's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wilson can do anything to dispel that myth. Ruas postures up.
Wilson is looking for a triangle but Ruas pushes his legs off easily.
Ruas trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ruas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilson keeping moving, preventing Ruas from controlling successfully. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Wilson looking for a guillotine here but Ruas defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Wilson is trying to keep Ruas in close.

Ruas stops Wilson from standing up. Ruas showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Wilson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wilson keeping moving, preventing Ruas from controlling successfully. Wilson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wilson wants to clinch and Ruas counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ruas trying to control from half guard but Wilson is working away. Ruas is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Wilson! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ruas is looking for a kimura but Wilson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ruas to get the leverage. Wilson wants to get back to full guard. Wilson trying to control but Ruas postures up.
Ruas is looking to take a break and control but Wilson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Wilson regains full guard. Nicely done. Wilson wants to get back to his feet but Ruas passes into half guard.

Ruas wants to pass the guard but Wilson is keeping the position. Ruas is working hard here to advance position. Ruas trying to control but Wilson is working from the bottom. Wilson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Ruas stacks Wilson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Ruas!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Wilson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Wilson moves to clinch but Ruas breaks away and Ruas counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Wilson looking to control but Ruas passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas stands up from half guard. Wilson clinches up with Ruas and pushes him back against the cage. Wilson prevents the takedown attempt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Murilo Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wilson tries a knee to the head but Ruas blocks it.
Wilson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ruas avoids it. Wilson looking to slow down the pace here. Wilson throws an elbow but it misses.
Ruas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wilson smiles and moves away.
Wilson darts in trying to clinch and Ruas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wilson's guard now. This has been an exciting period of action! Wilson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ruas manages to pass to side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Murilo Ruas dominated that second round. That's time! Ruas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Ruas circles away from the clinch attempt and Ruas counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Wilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wilson pushes Ruas off looking to stand but Ruas dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruas thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Wilson is trying to maintain the position but Ruas is very close to passing his half guard. Ruas works his foot free and advances to mount. Wilson tries to hold on but Ruas postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas looking to control but Wilson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ruas looking to secure an arm triangle but Wilson defends it well. Wilson swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Ruas controlling from mount.

Murilo Ruas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ruas is keen to just control but Wilson is a slippery customer. Ruas passes to full mount! Wilson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wilson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Wilson is pushing Ruas's head away, looking to escape. Ruas manages to hold on to the position though. Wilson tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Ruas easily slips into full mount! Ruas moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Wilson has worked his arm free - good work by Wilson!
Don Wilson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Murilo Ruas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Wilson throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
And that's the end of the fight! Murilo Ruas showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ruas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
