Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Viktor Metzger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aldo Alpha! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metzger tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Alpha is able to avoid easily. Metzger ducks under a wild hook from Alpha. A slapping leg kick lands for Metzger.
Metzger misses with a leg kick and Alpha counters with an outside leg kick.
Metzger throws a head kick that misses. Metzger attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Alpha blocks a low kick nicely. Alpha closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alpha lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alpha looking to sit in guard and control but Metzger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Alpha trying to keep a closed guard but Metzger is proving a slippery customer.
Alpha lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Metzger!
That's one minute gone in the round. Alpha wants to finish this one by submission but Metzger is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Alpha. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alpha wants to take his opponent's back but Metzger doesn't allow it. Alpha is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Metzger is in real trouble.
Alpha misses with punches from the back. Metzger defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Metzger tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Alpha working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Alpha dominating with strikes here. Alpha working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Metzger turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Alpha off and cradles Metzger's limp body as Alpha celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Aldo Alpha!
