Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Lyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Grant!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant shoots for a double leg takedown but Lyle sprawls well. He's pushed Grant's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Grant shoots in looking for a takedown but Lyle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Grant's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Grant misses with a lunging right hand
and Lyle counters with a head kick. That will keep Grant thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Grant is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lyle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Grant.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grant is looking to take a break and control but Lyle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Grant is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lyle is just riding it out for now. Grant eventually gives up the hold.

and Lyle counters with a nice low kick that buckles Grant's knee momentarily.
Lyle uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Grant.

Jeff Grant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grant shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Grant showed some decent athleticism there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lyle has his foot on Grant's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grant works his way back into a safe position though.
Grantis looking to pass into half guard but Lyle pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lyle is in guard.
Lyle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lyle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Grant has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Grant looking to sit in guard and control but Lyle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Grant lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lyle!
Grant pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Grant goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lyle is on top in guard.
Lyle drops back looking for a leg! Grant is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Grant manages to kick Lyle off! Lyle jumps back into Grant's guard.

Grant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lyle can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lyle content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Lyle makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Lyle dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Grant. That did some damage!
Grant takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Lyle makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Grant really felt that one!

Lyle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lyle thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Grant if he has to take too many more of those.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lyle does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Grant tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lyle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Grant tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lyle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Grant somewhat.

Lyle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Grant shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lyle as he avoids it easily.
Good leg kick by Lyle there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Lyle looks to land a right hand but Grant moved out of range.
Grant doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lyle counters with a good, hard body kick but Grant shrugs it off.
Lyle fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Grant has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Lyle lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lyle lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
