Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Colonel Chilcoat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Weiner! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chilcoat thuds his right hand into Weiner's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Chilcoat misses with a lunging right hand
and Weiner counters with a lovely straight right hand! A big right from Chilcoat misses. Weiner misses with a hook
and Chilcoat counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Chilcoat throws a big shot that misses. Chilcoat scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Chilcoat swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Weiner drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Weiner walks into a left hand. Weiner misses with a left hand and Chilcoat counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Chilcoat throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weiner works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chilcoat sitting in guard here, content to control. Weiner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chilcoat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Chilcoat lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Chilcoat thows a big elbow that misses. Weiner preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Chilcoat is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Chilcoat is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chilcoat throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Weiner works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chilcoat in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Chilcoat stands up over Weiner, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Chilcoat postures up and lands a big shot to Weiner's brow. Chilcoat distracts Weiner with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Chilcoat pushes down on Weiner's leg and manages to get into half guard. Weiner wants to get back to his feet.
Chilcoat is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Chilcoat lands strikes from half guard. Chilcoat not landing any meaningful shots this time. Chilcoat works his way into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Weiner can do anything to dispel that myth. Chilcoat is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Weiner knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Chilcoat landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chilcoat works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Chilcoat scores with a couple of short elbows. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chilcoat scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Weiner to see if he's OK. Weiner taking a bit of punishment here - Chilcoat scoring with strikes. Chilcoat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Chilcoat scoring with punches from side control. Chilcoat lands an elbow. Chilcoat lands a decent elbow from side control. Chilcoat controls the position. Chilcoat scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Weiner to see if he's OK. Weiner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Chilcoat lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Weiner down.
Weiner takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Chilcoat content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Check out the look on Chilcoat's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Weiner wants to get back to his feet but Chilcoat is dominant here and he's now got Weiner's back! Chilcoat lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Weiner.
Chilcoat controls the position. Chilcoat tightening his grip on Weiner, looking for the choke. Chilcoat scores with punches and elbows. Chilcoat lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chilcoat trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Weiner doesn't escape. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Weiner is trying to break free.

Chilcoat lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. Chilcoat scores with punches to the body. Weiner is trying to get back to his feet but Chilcoat has full control of the position and if anything, Weiner has just worked his way into a worse spot. Chilcoat landing with strikes. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Chilcoat is punishing Weiner with strikes - can he finish him?! Chilcoat looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Weiner is rocked! Chilcoat lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Weiner is still in real trouble! Can Chilcoat finish him? Chilcoat lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Colonel Chilcoat dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Chilcoat misses with an uppercut. Weiner saw that one coming. Chilcoat throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Weiner's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Chilcoat dives in looking to finish as Weiner flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Chilcoat's strikes! Chilcoat is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Weiner's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Weiner was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
