Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between General Scorcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Tait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, General Scorcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Tait!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tait doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Scorcher counters with a big head kick but Tait shrugs it off.
Tait misses with a takedown attempt
and Scorcher counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Tait tries to sprawl but Scorcher drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Scorcher stands up from half guard.
Tait moves in looking to clinch but Scorcher pushes him off.
Scorcher scores with a shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scorcher connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tait momentarily.
Tait fails with the takedown
and Scorcher counters with a flying knee. Nice.
General Scorcher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Tait.

and Tait holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Scorcher drives through and clinches with Tait against the cage.

Tait manages to pull guard.
Scorcher prevents Tait from getting back to his feet.
Tait keeping moving, preventing Scorcher from controlling successfully.
Tait looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Scorcher puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Scorcher prevents Tait from improving his position.
Scorcher stops Tait from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tait looks gassed!
Scorcher wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tait keeps working.
Scorcher lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Scorcher in particular looking to stall.
Scorcher seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Scorcher controlling the pace.
Scorcher is looking to stall here but Tait recovers full guard.

Scorcher gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Tait has his takedown stuffed
and Scorcher counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Tait is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Tait shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Scorcher counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Scorcher trying to control but Tait is working from the bottom.

Tait wants to sweep here but Scorcher controlling him for the moment.
Scorcher is pushing down on Tait's leg trying to pass to half guard. Tait is fighting to maintain full guard but Scorcher has managed to sneak the leg through.
Scorcher drops an elbow to the side of Tait's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Scorcher seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Tait trying to control here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Scorcher is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

General Scorcher dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Scorcher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tait moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Tait misses with a takedown

so Scorcher counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Scorcher controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Scorcher looking to sit in guard and control but Tait gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Scorcher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tait working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Scorcher looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tait is one step ahead there.

Tait is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Scorcher is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Scorcher has escaped and now he's on top!

Tait looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tait is breathing heavily.
Tait throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tait keeping full guard, as Scorcher tries to pass.
Scorcher trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tait's guard.
Tait looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tait is on top in guard.

Scorcher working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tait doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tait manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Scorcher is looking to sweep but instead, Tait has passed into half guard.

Tait passes into side control, despite Scorcher's attempt to control the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tait wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scorcher keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

General Scorcher dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Scorcher counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Scorcher.
Scorcher wants to stand but Tait has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Tait manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Scorcher manages to get himself to full guard.

Scorcher misses with a takedown attempt - Tait sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
George Tait seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scorcher leaves Tait with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tait is pressed up against the cage. Scorcher has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tait down to the mat. Tait avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Tait closes the distance and pushes Scorcher back into the cage.
Tait jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Scorcher walks away with a smile on his face. Tait gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Tait remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Scorcher is looking for a sweep.

George Tait comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Scorcher has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
