Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ricky Dale Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Lack! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lack falls off balance throwing a combination
and Johnson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Johnson. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Johnson looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Lack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lack tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Johnson is trying to control the position but Lack postures up. Johnson controlling the position. Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Johnson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lack!
That's one minute gone in the round. Lack really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson controlling from mount. Lack is working to get back to half guard.
Lack really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Johnson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lack because Johnson loaded up on that one. Lack can't escape the position.
Johnson content just to control the position here. Lack is working to get back to half guard.
Lack tries to improve his position but instead Johnson has taken his back! Johnson has the hooks in. Lack is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Johnson has got one arm under Lack's chin. This could be trouble... Lack trying to control the other hand but Johnson gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Lack has tapped out! The fight is over!
