PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between All Standup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Aerials as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, All Standup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson lands a jab to Standup's midsection.
Standup scores with a sloppy right hand. Jackson should have avoided that one.
Standup throws out a powerful jab.
Jackson avoids the head kick by Standup.
Standup avoids a punch combination nicely.
A punch combination from Standup misses.
Standup really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jackson pushes Standup up against the cage in a clinch.

Standup lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Standup is tying to control. Jackson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Standup is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jackson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Standup's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Standup's back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Standup rolls, trying to escape but Jackson keeps control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Standup trying to control the action but Jackson just sinks the hooks in.

Jackson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Standup has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Jackson wants to control but Standup is keeping busy.

Jackson is looking for the choke from the back position but Standup is controlling his hands well.
Jackson looks gassed!
Jackson is hanging on to Standup's back as he tries to escape.
Standup is working hard here to advance position.
Standup manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jackson's guard. Nice work there by Standup.
Standup won't allow Jackson to sweep him here.
Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Standup knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground.
Jackson controls Standup momentarily but Standup frees himself.

Standup wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Standup misses with a double jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jackson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Standup tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jackson has had enough of the clinch but Standup keeps him there for the moment.
Standup keeps control of Jackson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jackson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Standup has him pressed against the cage.

Jackson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jackson can't break the clinch.
Jackson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Standup won't allow it.
Jackson wants to break free but Standup has control.
with the fighters clinched against the cage, Jackson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Standup's guard.

Jackson stands and steps away. Standup gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Jackson misses with a kick to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson misses with a double jab.
Standup throws an overhand right that lands on Jackson's shoulder, as Jackson tries to avoid the shot.
Standup will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Jackson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Standup in his tracks.
All Standup seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson misses with a wild combination.
Standup takes a head kick and keeps coming.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Jackson dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Standup throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Jackson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Standup scores with a jab to the jaw.
Standup paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Standup throws a head kick that misses.
Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jackson misses with a hook.
A slapping leg kick lands for Standup.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Standup is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Jackson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Jackson takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jackson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Jackson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Standup blocks a head kick by Jackson.
Standup shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Standup throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Jackson stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Standup follows into mount!


Jackson is rocked!


It looks like Jay Jackson has been cut.
Jackson tries to reverse the position but Standup maintains control.
Jackson is still in real trouble! Can Standup finish him?

Standup is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jackson seems to have recovered his senses.

Jackson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jackson avoids a series of strikes thrown by Standup.

Standup is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jackson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Standup will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Standup goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jackson turns into him and now he's in Standup's guard.

Standup is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jackson advances to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Standup plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

All Standup is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Standup is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jackson.
A lazy left from Jackson finds it's target.
Jackson takes a kick to the side of the head.
Standup lands a nice looking body shot.
Standup drops Jackson with a naaaaasty hook - Jackson is in real trouble here! Standup dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
