Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Earl Bertane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Petruzalek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bertane might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dark Tranquillity - Her Silent Language. Earl Bertane could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Justin Petruzalek's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earl Bertane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Petruzalek! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petruzalek feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bertanes jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! No luck with that takedown attempt from Petruzalek. The fighters circling - Petruzalek throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Petruzalek misses with a left hand and Bertane counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bertane is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Petruzalek has escaped the position, nice work there. Bertane has knee on belly momentarily but Petruzalek bucks him off and regains half guard. Bertane trying to mount his opponent but Petruzalek defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petruzalek is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bertane scores with a couple of nice shots. Bertane missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Petruzalek is looking to improve his position.
Petruzalek keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bertane thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Petruzalek's head. Bertane seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Petruzalek does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petruzalek has hold of Bertane's hands but Bertane slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Bertane wants to control but Petruzalek is keeping him busy. Petruzalek trying to control here.
Bertane trying to control from half guard but Petruzalek is working away. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Petruzalek moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bertane trying to control the position from guard on top but Petruzalek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bertane slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Petruzalek keeping moving, preventing Bertane from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Earl Bertane wasn't doing enough on the ground. Petruzalek closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. The fighters circling - Petruzalek throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petruzalek jabs Bertane right on the nose. Bertane blinks but takes it well. Petruzalek falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bertane decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Petruzalek's guard. Bertane wants to control from the top but Petruzalek keeps moving. Bertane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petruzalek swivels though and keeps the full guard. Petruzalek looking for a sweep. Not yet Petruzalek, not yet. Bertane trying to control the position from guard on top but Petruzalek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Earl Bertane dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bertane defending well as Petruzalek loads up on a big left hand. Petruzalek is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bertane. Bertane missing with a left hand there. Petruzalek was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Petruzalek misses with an uppercut
and Bertane counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Petruzalek throws a looping overhand right but Bertane ducks down to avoid it. A big right from Petruzalek misses. Petruzalek throws a right hand that misses
and Bertane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Petruzalek with a lazy takedown attempt and Bertane counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Bertane scores with a jab. Petruzalek swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Bertane ducks under a wild hook from Petruzalek.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petruzalek throws a lazy uppercut
and Bertane counters with a nice uppercut. Petruzalek looks to score with a jab to the body but Bertane is just out of range. Petruzalek takes one on the button. Bertane swings away with a body shot that misses
and Petruzalek cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bertane uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Petruzalek. Petruzalek just misses with a punch to the body.

Petruzalek throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Petruzalek misses with a straight right. Bertane shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Petruzalek avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bertane wants to control from the top but Petruzalek keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bertane throwing strikes but missing. Bertane is working Petruzalek over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Bertane engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Bertane is fighting to break Petruzalek's control of his arms but Petruzalek is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petruzalek is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bertane is controlling him. Bertane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Petruzalek swivels though and keeps the full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Bertane looking to sit in guard and control but Petruzalek gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Petruzalek not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Petruzalek looking to pass the guard. Bertane looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Petruzalek seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Bertane working a defensive guard here.

Earl Bertane dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Petruzalek moves away from the strike by Bertane. Petruzalek closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bertane circles away. Bertane ducks under a wild hook from Petruzalek. Petruzalek misses with a left hand and Bertane counters with a takedown into side control. You can see the frustration on Petruzalek's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bertane tries to move into full mount but can't pass Petruzalek's legs. Bertane tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bertane in side control, throwing shots but Petruzalek defends. Petruzalek is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bertane asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Petruzalek manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Petruzalek kicks Bertane off and gets back to his feet. Petruzalek slips a straight right by Bertane. Justin Petruzalek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Petruzalek throws a right hand that Bertane ducks under and follows up with a left that Bertane also avoids with ease. Petruzalek rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bertane counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Bertane lands a body punch in the clinch. Bertane prevents Petruzalek from breaking the clinch. Petruzalek blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Petruzalek wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Bertane has a couple of punches blocked by Petruzalek.
Bertane lands with a short shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bertane displaying some good clinch control by pressing Petruzalek up against the cage. Bertane scores with a shot to the side of Petruzalek's head.
It looks like Justin Petruzalek has been cut. Bertane lands with a short head shot on the inside. Bertane misses with some punches.
Bertane pushes Petruzalek back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Bertane is pushing Petruzalek up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Bertane escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Bertane trying to control the position from guard on top but Petruzalek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bertane postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Bertane wants to control from the top but Petruzalek keeps moving. Bertane not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that's the end of the fight! Earl Bertane showed his dominance in that final round. Well Bertane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
