PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ted Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willians Trautman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes to the cage accompanied by Nirvana- Something in the Way. Trautman is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bolt Thrower - No guts, no glory. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Willians Trautman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trautman has taken the fight to the clinch.
Nelson wants to break free but Trautman has control.

Nelson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Trautman is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nelson to the mat. Nelson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Trautman tries to stand but Nelson is controlling from the bottom.
Trautman wants to pass the guard but Nelson is keeping the position.

Trautman gets to his feet - Nelson follows without any prompting.
An inside leg kick from Nelson misses.

and Trautman counters with a three punch combo that has Nelson backing up. Nelson nods at Trautman to acknowledge the strikes.
Nelson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nelson throws a right hand that misses

and Trautman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Trautman fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Nelson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Trautman decides to pull guard.

Trautman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Nelson wants to stand but Trautman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Trautman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nelson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Trautman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nelson, pushing him back against the cage.

Trautman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Trautman is trying to work for a kimura but Nelson is defending well.

Trautman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Nelson's guard.

Trautman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nelson defends it well.
Nelson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Trautman on the ground.
Nelson wants to control but Trautman is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Trautman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Willians Trautman has got the better of the ground game so far.

Trautman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nelson sees it coming and defends easily.

Trautman postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Nelson to stand up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Trautman counters with a takedown into side control.

Trautman decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Trautman counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nelson swings away with a body shot that misses

and Trautman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nelson's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Trautman drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick Trautman off! Trautman jumps back into Nelson's guard.

Trautman stands up and waves to Nelson to follow him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nelson throws a low kick, looking for Trautman's leg but Trautman calmly moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Willians Trautman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Trautman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Trautman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ted Nelson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Trautman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Nelson!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Trautman is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Nelson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Trautman goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Nelson is on top in guard.

and Trautman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Trautman.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nelson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Trautman counters by clinching up.

Trautman prevents Nelson from breaking the clinch.

Trautman is trying to trip Nelson. He has hold of a leg but Nelson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Trautman persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Ted Nelson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nelson throws a lazy uppercut

and Trautman holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Trautman manages to pull guard.
Trautman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nelson manages to get himself to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Willians Trautman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Trautman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
