Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vyryato Machado!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hickson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hickson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hickson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Matt Hickson.
Machado throws a wild body kick that Hickson sees coming a mile off.

Machado throws a sloppy head kick and Hickson moves out of range easily.
Hickson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Hickson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Machado is out of range.
Hickson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Machado swivels and escapes.

Machado wants to control from the top but Hickson keeps moving.
Hickson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hickson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Machado is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Machado is stalling here. Hickson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Machado seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hickson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Hickson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Machado's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hickson stands up and beckons Machado to his feet.
Machado darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Machado is trying to control. Hickson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Machado is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hickson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Machado has passed into side control.
Machado wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hickson keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hickson is trying to control Machado's posture but Machado avoids it.
Hickson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hickson is concentrating on defense, preventing Machado from advancing position.

Machado throws a big right hand that misses.
Machado is fighting to break Hickson's control of his arms but Hickson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Hickson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hickson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hickson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Machado to the mat! Machado manages to get full guard.

Hickson takes a little break here. Machado wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Hickson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Machado's shoulder. That is not cool.

Hickson cracks Machado with a big right hand but Machado just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hickson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Machado is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hickson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hickson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Machado tries to control the position but Hickson now has his back.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Hickson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

and Hickson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Machado's guard now.
Machado is working an open guard so Hickson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hickson shoots in for a double leg but Machado sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Hickson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Machado's face as Hickson controls the position.
Machado is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hickson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Hickson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Oooooh, big shot lands for Hickson! Machado is hurt baaadly! Hickson is firing away with more strikes - Machado is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
