Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jericho Marquardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Striker Grappling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquardt comes into the arena with Welcome to the TerrorDome blaring out of the sound system. Striker Grappling has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jericho Marquardt! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Striker Grappling! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marquardt motions for Grappling to come forward. Marquardt throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Marquardt throws a sloppy head kick and Marquardt takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Marquardt checks a leg kick. Grappling does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grappling throws a poor cross that misses
and Marquardt counters with a takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grappling prevents Marquardt from improving position. Marquardt wants to control but Grappling is keeping him busy. Marquardt swings around for an armbar but Grappling sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Marquardt's guard. Marquardt looking for a sweep. Not yet Marquardt, not yet. Grappling slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Marquardt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Grappling wants to pass the guard but Marquardt is keeping the position. Marquardt is looking for a triangle here but Grappling uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Marquardt is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marquardt is looking for a sweep. Grappling is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Marquardt looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Marquardt is trying to get back to full guard. Grappling is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Marquardt! Grappling avoids the attempt from Marquardt to control. Grappling looking to control and managing it successfully. Grappling's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquardt is wriggling around trying to escape.
Marquardt sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Grappling controlling the action here. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Marquardt wants to improve his position but Grappling is controlling well.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Striker Grappling wasn't active enough on the ground. Grappling throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Marquardt on the side of the head. Grappling throws a jab when Marquardt was well out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jericho Marquardt will probably get the nod. That's time! Marquardt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Marquardt slips under a jab from Grappling. Marquardt shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Marquardt looking to control but Grappling is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Grappling can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marquardt punching from mount but Grappling doing a good job of avoiding damage. Marquardt looking to finish Grappling with some ground and pound. This is bad for Grappling! Grappling blocking the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grappling gets back to half guard. Marquardt prevents Grappling from improving his position. Marquardt is working for a submission of some sort.
Marquardt is looking for a kimura but Grappling is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Marquardt to get the leverage. Marquardt is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Grappling is wriggling around but Marquardt manages to pass to half guard.
Marquardt looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Grappling on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marquardt prevents Grappling from standing back up.
Marquardt controlling the action here. Marquardt is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Grappling! Marquardt wants to finish this one by submission but Grappling is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Marquardt. Grappling is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Marquardt working the ground and pound effectively.

No luck for Marquardt with that takedown attempt. Marquardt swats away the attempt to clinch by Grappling. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grappling lands a nice hook to Marquardt's body. Marquardt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marquardt throws the kick towards the body but Grappling avoids it. Grappling connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Striker Grappling is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Marquardt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marquardt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Grappling avoids it really well and circles away. Marquardt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jericho Marquardt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquardt tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Grappling is able to avoid easily. Marquardt throws a lazy body kick and Grappling counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Grappling misses with a body shot
and Marquardt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Grappling won't be happy with that. Grappling defending against the ground and pound. Marquardt tries to score with some ground and pound. Grappling controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Marquardt throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. You can see the frustration on Grappling's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Grappling wants to get back to his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Grappling sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Marquardt seems to be looking for submissions.

That was a close round but Jericho Marquardt did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Marquardt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Striker Grappling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grappling thows a left - swing and a miss! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marquardt takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Grappling throws a push kick but Marquardt slaps the foot to one side. Grappling tries to land a body kick and Marquardt counters with an outside leg kick.
Grappling leaves Marquardt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Grappling will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Marquardt throws a leg kick but Grappling sees it coming and checks it nicely. Marquardt shoots in for a takedown but Grappling shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Grappling slaps away a takedown attempt from Marquardt, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jericho Marquardt. That's going to take a lot out of him. Marquardt attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Marquardt misses with a body kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Striker Grappling dominated that fourth round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
A decent looking cross lands there for Grappling. Grappling checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Marquardt throws a leg kick and Grappling counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Grappling is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grappling misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Marquardt.
Grappling throws an overhand right that lands on Marquardt's shoulder, as Marquardt tries to avoid the shot. Marquardt swats away the attempt to clinch by Grappling. Grappling throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Striker Grappling has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Grappling!

and Marquardt makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. A leg kick checked by Marquardt. Marquardt staying out of range there. A swing and a miss from Grappling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Grappling misses with a body shot.
Grappling moves to clinch but Marquardt breaks away and Marquardt counters with a low kick, right behind Grappling 's knee. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A low kick from Grappling misses and Marquardt counters with a body kick.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jericho Marquardt. I think Marquardt has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
