Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Babcock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Commodore Perry!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Babcock checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Perry throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Babcock counters with a takedown into side control.
Perry tries to improve position but can't.
Babcock tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Babcock is trying to ground and pound but Perry uses the momentary lack of control by Babcock to regain half guard.
Babcock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Commodore Perry showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Babcock is looking to wear down Perry with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
