PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tone Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison comes into a darkened arena with his song building. East London Rap - Wha we a bout kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tone Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Harrison!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Cross.
Cross lands a nice shot to the body.
Harrison tries to clinch there but Cross circles away.
Cross on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Cross throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Harrison was covering up waiting for the punch and Cross finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cross has gone for a leg lock! Harrison slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cross's guard.

Cross has his foot on Harrison's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Harrison works his way back into a safe position though.
Harrison throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cross works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cross looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Harrison got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cross has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harrison has managed to get both his arms back between Cross's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrison throws a big right hand that misses.
Cross tries to strike from the bottom.

Cross keeping full guard, as Harrison tries to pass.
Harrison postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harrison accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Harrison trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Harrison won't allow Cross to get back to his feet.
Harrison postures up in Cross's guard and throws a big left but Cross blocks it.

Cross is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cross is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Harrison drops back looking for a leg! Cross is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cross manages to kick Harrison off! Harrison jumps back into Cross's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Harrison postures up in Cross's guard and throws a big left but Cross blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Harrison trying to control but Cross is working from the bottom.

Cross is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cross has his foot on Harrison's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Harrison works his way back into a safe position though.
Harrison postures up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Harrison's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Cross wants to sweep but no luck.

Cross is looking for a triangle here but Harrison uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Harrison working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Cross manages to get back to half guard.
Harrison prevents Cross from standing back up.

Cross actively working from the bottom here.
Cross is breathing heavily.
Harrison working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Cross wants to improve his position but Harrison is controlling well.
Harrison wants to take a breather but Cross is having none of it.
Harrison passes to full mount!
Harrison lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Harrison lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Harrison with a couple of short strikes.
Harrison has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cross's face.
Harrison trying to control but Cross is having none of it.
Cross is trying to escape the mount.
Harrison breaks from Cross's wrist control and lands an elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cross is desperately trying to improve his position but Harrison has a good base and remains in mount.
Cross is in a horrible position here. Harrison smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harrison lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Cross hang on?
Cross tries to hold on but Harrison postures up.
Cross is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Harrison dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cross changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harrison tries to avoid it but Cross manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harrison to the ground. Harrison escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A telegraphed right hand from Cross misses the target.

Cross pushes Harrison up against the cage in a clinch.
Cross tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cross can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tone Cross. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Harrison working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Harrison looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Harrison's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fight stays on the outside here - Harrison looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Harrison throws a jab when Cross was well out of range.
Charles Harrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cross takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Harrison throws a nice looking combination but Cross bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Harrison fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cross on the side of the head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A punch combination from Harrison misses.
Harrison takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Cross counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Harrison is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Harrison keeping moving, preventing Cross from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Harrison working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cross doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cross manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cross trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Cross gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cross clinches.
Harrison has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Harrison gets underhooks to prevent Cross's takedown attempt.

Cross tightens his grip and picks Harrison up, before dumping him to the ground. Harrison manages to land in guard.
Cross sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Harrison lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cross!
Cross is looking to improve his position but Harrison isn't that keen on the idea.
Cross takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Cross tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Harrison looking to secure an arm triangle but Cross defends it well.
Cross is in a horrible position here. Harrison smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Cross gets back to half guard.
Harrison looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cross is trying to maintain the position but Harrison is very close to passing his half guard.
Cross is trying to get back to full guard.
Harrison lands strikes from half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Harrison. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Harrison seems to be working for a kimura but Cross defends the submission attempt.
Cross is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Harrison scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Charles Harrison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Cross looking to score a takedown here. Harrison is defending well but Cross drives through and ends up in Harrison's guard.

Cross postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Harrison is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cross, into his guard.

Cross looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Harrison passes into half guard.
Harrison stops Cross from getting back to his feet.

Cross is trying to stand back up but Harrison is controlling him

Harrison is controlling the pace.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Harrison performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Charles Harrison hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Cross pushes Harrison up against the cage in a clinch.
Harrison stops a takedown attempt from Cross.
Cross changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Harrison fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Harrison wants to clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cross works Harrison's body with a nice hook.
Harrison throws a right and a left that Cross avoids nicely.
Harrison throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Harrison leaves Cross with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tone Cross. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cross uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Harrison.

Harrison drops Cross with a beautiful combination! Cross stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Harrison is looking for the KO!
Nice uppercut there from Harrison.


Cross is rocked!
Harrison moves in looking to clinch but Cross pushes him off.
Harrison throws a head kick that misses.

Harrison lands a left and a right that send Cross crashing to the mat, dazed. Harrison thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Oh Cross is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Harrison cracks Cross's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Cross slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Harrison can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Charles Harrison!
