Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Devils Obstacle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leonard Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz shoots and misses and Obstacle counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Obstacle performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Ortiz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ortiz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Obstacle trying to mount his opponent but Ortiz defends it. The fighters are battling for position here. Ortiz manages to regain full guard. Nice work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Obstacle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Obstacle controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Obstacle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Obstacle would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Ortiz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Obstacle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ortiz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Obstacle has managed to get both his arms back between Ortiz's legs - danger averted. Obstacle gets to his feet - Ortiz follows without any prompting. Obstacle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ortiz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. A momentary lapse in concentration from Obstacle enables Ortiz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Obstacle manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ortiz looks gassed! Obstacle wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Obstacle wants to stand and escape but Ortiz is having none of it. Ortiz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ortiz trying to control but Obstacle is working from the bottom. Obstacle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Obstacle working a defensive guard here.
Ortiz wants to control from the top but Obstacle keeps moving. Ortiz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ortiz trying to control but Obstacle is working from the bottom. Obstacle pulls Ortiz in close to prevent any damage.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Ortiz shoots and misses so Obstacle counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Devils Obstacle dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Obstacle fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ortiz sprawls well initially but Obstacle persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Obstacle trying to control the pace. Ortiz tries to get to full guard but Obstacle has control of the leg. Ortiz tries to kick Obstacle off but Obstacle keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Obstacle postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ortiz to stand up. Obstacle gets the takedown into side control. Obstacle working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ortiz is breathing heavily. Obstacle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ortiz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortiz tries to improve position but can't. Devils Obstacle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Obstacle controlling the position. Obstacle has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ortiz! Ortiz is looking to improve his position but Obstacle isn't that keen on the idea. Obstacle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ortiz on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Obstacle looking to ground and pound but Ortiz is blocking nicely. Obstacle working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Obstacle sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Obstacle wants to take his opponent's back but Ortiz doesn't allow it. Obstacle unloads with some shots from mount but Ortiz bucks and avoids them well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Obstacle stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Obstacle is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ortiz's half guard. Obstacle slows the pace down in half guard. Obstacle tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Obstacle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Obstacle is working for a submission of some sort.
Ortiz wants to control but Obstacle is keeping busy and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Devils Obstacle dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Obstacle shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Obstacle was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Ortiz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ortiz is trying to reverse the position but instead Obstacle has taken his back - oops! Obstacle looking for the choke from the back. Ortiz tries to escape but Obstacle has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Ortiz has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Obstacle. Obstacle biding his time, controlling Ortiz. Ortiz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Obstacle throwing sloppy strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Obstacle missing with strikes. Obstacle not allowing Ortiz to control his hands. Obstacle just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Obstacle has the hooks in. Ortiz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Obstacle controls the action. Ortiz covering up well and avoiding damage. I would not like to be Ortiz right now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ortiz tries to escape but Obstacle has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Even with his hooks in, Obstacle manages to miss with strikes from the back. Ortiz is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Obstacle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Even with his hooks in, Obstacle manages to miss with strikes from the back. Obstacle struggling to land strikes to the head as Ortiz covers up. Obstacle lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Obstacle.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Obstacle controlling the position well here. Ortiz rolled but Obstacle kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Leonard Ortiz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Devils Obstacle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! Devils Obstacle showed his dominance in that final round. Well Obstacle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
