PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Chavo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Chavo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Colin Marshall!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshall doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Chavo counters with a shoot takedown. Marshall fights it but they end up in guard.
Marshall controls Chavo momentarily but Chavo frees himself.
Marshall wants to get back to his feet but Chavo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marshall controls Chavo momentarily but Chavo frees himself.
Chavo throwing strikes from guard but Marshall blocks nicely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chavo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Marshall is trying to keep Chavo in close.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Colin Marshall wasn't active enough on the ground.
Marshall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chavo pinned against the cage. Chavo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Marshall gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chavo to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Chavo drops back looking for a leg! Marshall is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Marshall manages to kick Chavo off! Chavo jumps back into Marshall's guard.
Chavo throws and elbow that misses. Marshall uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chavo's guard. Nice move by Marshall!
Chavo wants to get back to his feet but Marshall is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marshall wants to pass the guard but Chavo is keeping the position.
Chavo keeping moving, preventing Marshall from controlling successfully.
Marshall wants to stand and escape but instead Chavo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Chavo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marshall on the ground.
Chavo tries to stand but Marshall is controlling from the bottom.

Marshall manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Marshall shoots in for a takedown but Chavo shows good takedown defense.
Eddie Chavo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colin Marshall.

Marshall instigates a clinch.
Chavo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marshall gets the underhooks and prevents it.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Chavo just misses with a elbow thrown towards Marshall's brow.

Chavo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Marshall looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Chavo goes for an armbar but Marshall turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Marshall.

Marshall is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Chavo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Marshall works over Chavo with some ground and pound from guard.
Marshall is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Marshall scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eddie Chavo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Marshall moves to clinch but Chavo breaks away

and Chavo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Eddie Chavo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marshall tries to bench press Chavo off him but Chavo keeps the position.
Marshall is breathing heavily.
Chavo scores with a couple of short elbows.
Marshall is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Check out the look on Chavo's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chavo is keen to just control but Marshall is a slippery customer.

Marshall is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chavo pulls his head out easily.
Chavo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marshall keeps working.
Chavo tries to stand but can't do so whilst Marshall controls his leg.
Marshall is trying to control but can't.

Marshall manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Chavo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Chavo scores with a kick to the body.
Eddie Chavo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Chavo throws a series of punches but Marshall avoids them all with ease.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chavo.
Chavo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Marshall lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Chavo!

Marshall can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Chavo is looking to escape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Marshall cracks Chavo with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Chavo can't get the takedown.
Marshall avoiding damage as Chavo throws knees to the body.
Marshall is trying to break the clinch but Chavo has him pressed against the cage.

Marshall gets control of Chavo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Marshall will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chavo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
