Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Neville Champman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi has chosen Scary as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Neville Champman! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Takanori Gomi! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomi catches Champman with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! A lazy body kick from Champman and Gomi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Gomi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Champman counters with a low kick, right behind Gomi 's knee. Champman throws a chopping leg kick but Gomi manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Gomi checks a low kick from Champman. Gomi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Champman's guard. Gomi throwing strikes but missing. Gomi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Champman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gomi has Champman in his guard. Champman trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Gomi holds on and takes a little breather. Gomi tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gomi controls Champman momentarily but Champman frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We're going to have a standup here because Neville Champman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Gomi scores with a hook to the body. Champman takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Champman throws a head kick that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gomi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Champman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomi somewhat. A jab from Gomi does it's job there. Champman takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Champman motions for Gomi to come forward. Champman throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Gomi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Poor strikes thrown by Gomi there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Gomi raining down shots from the mount! Gomi controlling from mount. Champman is looking to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomi punching from mount but Champman doing a good job of avoiding damage. Champman is trying desperately to improve position. Gomi thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Gomi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Champman turns into him and now he's in Gomi's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gomi keeping full guard, as Champman tries to pass. Gomi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gomi trying to keep a closed guard but Champman is proving a slippery customer.
Gomi has momentary wrist control but Champman slips an elbow through the middle. Gomi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Takanori Gomi dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gomi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Champman misses with an attempted mid kick.
Champman does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. A low kick from Champman misses and Gomi moves into the clinch. Gomi stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Gomi is trying to push Champman away but Champman has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Gomi lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Champman or not. Champman misses with a knee strike.
Champman misses with a punch on the inside.
Champman is trying to stall.
Gomi goes for a takedown in the clinch but Champman prevents it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gomi. Gomi is trying to trip Champman. He has hold of a leg but Champman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Gomi persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Champman wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Champman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Champman wants to hit a switch here but Gomi passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Champman there! Gomi throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Champman because Gomi loaded up on that one. Champman tries to lock up and control but Gomi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gomi throws a strike there. Champman manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Champman is looking to improve his position.
Champman is in trouble now - Gomi has advanced to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gomi working the ground and pound effectively.
Champman holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gomi tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Champman can't escape the position.
Gomi raining down shots from the mount! Gomi looking to finish with strikes here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Champman is in all sorts of trouble here.
Gomi dominating with strikes here. Gomi scoring with strikes but Champman is staying in there.
Champman is rocked! Gomi trying to control but he's not successful this time. Oh Champman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Gomi landing strikes, looking to finish! Gomi trying to control but Champman is having none of it. Champman seems to have got his legs back now. Champman is bucking up trying to escape but Gomi cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomi looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Champman covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Takanori Gomi! Takanori Gomi is the new lightweight champion!
