PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cid Strife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Piper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Strife comes into the arena with Tool - Ticks and Leeches blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strife has Piper up against the cage in a clinch.
Piper takes a knee right on the jaw!
Strife lands a knee to the head.
Strife connects with a nasty looking knee right to Piper's face.
Strife with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Strife lands a damaging elbow.
Strife comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Piper has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Strife avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Strife connects with a knee to the head.
Strife lands an elbow inside that Piper shrugs off.
Piper takes a knee right on the jaw!
Piper is rocked!
Strife is pushing Piper up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Piper is still on wobbly legs! Can Strife finish him?
Strife scores with a knee to the head.
Piper takes an elbow to the temple.
Piper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Strife lands a nice elbow.
Strife has Piper pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Piper is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Strife - that's hurt Piper badly! Oh, another knee lands and Piper is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Piper doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Cid Strife!
