Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quaid has chosen Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kirill Petrov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Douglas Quaid!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov dodges the punch combination from Quaid.
Douglas Quaid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Petrov scores with a nice right hand.
Quaid ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Petrov moves away.
Quaid shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Petrov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Quaid misses with a looping right.
A nice inside leg kick there by Petrov. That's going to slow Quaid down.
Quaid gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Petrov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

so Petrov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Petrov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Quaid can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Petrov controls the pace.

Quaid manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Petrov manages to get himself to full guard.

Petrov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Quaid can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Petrov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quaid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Quaid wants to pass the guard but Petrov is keeping the position.

Quaid is pushing down on Petrov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Petrov is fighting to maintain full guard but Quaid has managed to sneak the leg through.

Petrov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Petrov keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Petrov tries to get to full guard but Quaid has control of the leg.
Quaid wants to free his trapped foot but Petrov is holding on for dear life with his legs.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Petrov misses with a takedown attempt - Quaid sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Quaid throws a body punch but Petrov moves out of range.
Petrov takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fighters circle momentarily. Quaid darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Quaid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Quaid lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quaid not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Petrov looking for a sweep. Not yet Petrov, not yet.

Quaid trying to control but Petrov is working from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quaid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Petrov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Quaid!

Petrov throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Petrov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Quaid's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quaid is looking to improve his position but Petrov isn't that keen on the idea.
Petrov tries to control but Quaid wriggling away.
BOOM! Petrov connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Petrov lands a heavy elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Petrov controlling the position easily from mount.
Quaid is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Petrov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Quaid looks a forlorn figure.
Petrov misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kirill Petrov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Petrov lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Quaid hang on?
Petrov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Quaid wants to control but Petrov is having none of it.
Petrov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Quaid is looking to escape.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Petrov cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Quaid gets back to half guard.
Quaid makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Quaid.
Petrov looking to sit in guard and control but Quaid gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Petrov is looking for a triangle but Quaid pushes his legs off easily.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quaid's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Petrov shoots for a takedown but Quaid saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Quaid counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Petrov is staying active underneath Quaid, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Petrov wants to control but Quaid is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Petrov tries to roll over but Quaid keeps him under control.
Quaid moves into full mount! Petrov won't be happy about that!

Quaid seems to be working for a kimura but Petrov defends the submission attempt.

Petrov is not content to let Quaid control the position.
Petrov throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Quaid remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Quaid is working Petrov over with some ground and pound from side control.
Quaid avoids the strikes from the bottom by Petrov.
Petrov tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Quaid presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Quaid throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Petrov was covering up waiting for the punch and Quaid finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Petrov has his foot on Quaid's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Quaid works his way back into a safe position though.

Petrov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quaid doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Petrov is tightening it up a little... Quaid has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Quaid reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Quaid taps out! nice BJJ there by Petrov!
