Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boston Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Tobin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Boston Dean! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Tobin! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dean shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Tobin tries to hold on but Dean postures up. Tobin is wriggling around trying to escape.

Tobin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Tobin is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Tobin is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Dean trying to control but he's not successful this time. Tobin is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dean breaks from Tobin's wrist control and lands an elbow. A nice elbow there by Dean. Dean landing punches. Tobin is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Dean can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tobin is looking to escape. That's two minutes gone in the round. Dean landing strikes from the mount and Tobin is in trouble! The referee warns Tobin that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tobin is looking to get to half guard. Dean sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. That's four minutes gone in the round. Dean scoring with strikes but Tobin is staying in there. Tobin in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Tobin is trying to stand up. Tobin regains half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dean connects with a nice short shot to Tobin's temple. Dean takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Dean not landing any meaningful shots this time. Tobin blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dean. Dean stops Tobin from getting back to his feet.
Dean wants to control but Tobin is keeping him busy. Dean landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Tobin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Tobin is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boston Dean dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dean is looking to advance position but Tobin won't allow it. Tobin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dean is working away from the top position though. Tobin pushes Dean off but Dean dives into side control.
Dean throws an elbow but Tobin slips to the side and avoids it well. Tobin taking a bit of punishment here - Dean scoring with strikes. Dean landing strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dean prevents Tobin from escaping the position. Dean controlling the position from side mount. Tobin is trying to control Dean's posture but Dean avoids it. Tobin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Dean tries to pass to full mount but Tobin defends it. Dean has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dean is figuring out what he wants to do next. Tobin is trying to stand up here but Dean is controlling him well. Tobin is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Dean trying to mount his opponent but Tobin defends it. Dean throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Tobin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Dean is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Dean thows a huge punch but Tobin dodges it nicely.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dean missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Tobin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dean. Dean wants to control from the top but Tobin keeps moving. Tobin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Dean prevents Tobin from getting back to his feet.

He's pushed Dean's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Tobin darts in trying to clinch and Dean counters with a nice double leg into guard. Tobin is looking to stand up but Dean isn't so interested in that idea. Tobin looking for a sweep. Not yet Tobin, not yet. Tobin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dean is controlling him. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dean's corner. There ya go! There ya go! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boston Dean dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. James Tobin wasn't active enough on the ground. Dean misses with a few strikes there.
Tobin's jab looks to have found its range, popping Dean under the eye. Tobin cracks Dean with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Tobin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Dean shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tobin sprawls well. Tobin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dean gets slowly back to his feet. Tobin misses with a combination

That's four minutes gone in the round. Tobin is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Boston Dean is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Tobin is pressed up against the cage. Dean has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tobin down to the mat. Tobin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boston Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Tobin tries to clinch up and Dean counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tobin's guard now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dean won't allow Tobin to get back to his feet. Dean is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Tobin keeping moving, preventing Dean from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Boston Dean showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dean, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
