Persson comes to the cage accompanied by Johnny Cash - Rusty cage. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Snider!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snider tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Persson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Snider tries to clinch up but Persson circles away and keeps his distance.
Persson keeps the fight on the outside.
Snider doesn't manage to clinch there - Persson circles away.

Persson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Persson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Snider wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Persson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Persson swings around for an armbar but Snider sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Persson's guard.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Snider just misses with a elbow thrown towards Persson's brow.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Snider pushes off an throws an elbow but Persson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Snider looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Persson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Persson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Snider stalling.
Snider lands an elbow just above Persson 's eye.
Snider tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Snider stalling in the clinch.
Snider with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Persson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Snider smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fredrik Persson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Persson swats away the attempt to clinch by Snider.
Snider tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Persson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Snider tries to land knees in the clinch but Persson avoids the damage to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Persson misses with an uppercut.

Persson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Persson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Persson thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Snider wants to try and get back to his feet.

Snider is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Persson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Persson won't let Snider get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Persson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Snider is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Snider and Persson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Persson tries to advance position but instead Snider slips a leg back in to half guard.

Persson is working for a kimura but Snider is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Persson is looking to pass Snider's guard but actually Snider recovers to full guard.

Snider is working an open guard so Persson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Persson moves in looking to clinch but Snider pushes him off.

Persson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Persson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Persson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Snider looks calm but he's in trouble here. Persson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Snider is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Persson lets go of the hold and Snider can pop his arm back in it's socket.
