Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brent Squires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DrZawi Hawass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brent Squires! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DrZawi Hawass! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Squires with a poor takedown and Hawass counters with a left and a right that stings Squires. Squires showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hawass.
A jab from Hawass misses. Hawass misses with a two punch combination.
Hawass will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hawass lands with a hook. Squires tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Hawass throws a series of punches but Squires avoids them all with ease. Some wild striking there from Hawass.
Squires shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawass sprawls well. He's pushed Squires's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hawass throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Squires counters with a shoot takedown. Hawass fights it but they end up in guard. Hawass is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hawass might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Squires kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Squires wants to control from the top but Hawass keeps moving. Hawass is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hawass really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Squires. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hawass preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Squires engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The ref stands the fighters back up. DrZawi Hawass was stalling too much, according to the referee. Hawass lunges at Squires with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Squires's hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Squires tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Squires drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Hawass scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Squires ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Hawass throws a right and a left that Squires avoids nicely. Squires defending well as Hawass loads up on a big left hand. Hawass defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Squires. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brent Squires. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hawass rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Squires moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Squires tries for a takedown but Hawass sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Squires tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hawass swivels and escapes. Hawass manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hawass rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Squires moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Squires tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hawass swivels and escapes. Squires shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Squires showed some decent athleticism there. Hawass has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Squires is working away from the top position though.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Hawass pushes Squires off looking to stand but Squires dives back in and keeps control.
Hawass is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Squires thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hawass's head. Squires takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Hawass is doing well to control the position and prevent Squires from advancing to side control. Squires throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hawass's waist but Hawass gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Squires off to one side. A swing and a miss from Hawass. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Hawass throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hawass gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Squires to score an easy takedown into full guard. Hawass wants to get back to his feet but Squires passes into half guard.

Hawass sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Squires has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Hawass throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hawass lands with a right hand. Hawass throws a nice looking combination but Squires bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Squires shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hawass eats them both and turns towards Squires to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. This has been an exciting period of action! Hawass swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Sloppy strikes from Hawass. Those never looked like landing. Hawass feints a jab promting Squires to slip. Hawass then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Squires slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Squires's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Squires duly obliges. A punch combination from Hawass misses. A punch combination from Hawass misses. Squires moves away from the strike by Hawass. Squires shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hawass throws a series of strikes that have Squires backpedaling.
Squires ducks right into an uppercut from Hawass. Squires shoots for a takedown but Hawass saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Squires closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hawass quickly recovers to half guard. Squires winds up and cracks Hawass with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Squires working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Squires makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Squires's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Squires is looking to work some ground and pound but Hawass has wrist control. Hawass wants to get back to his feet but Squires passes into half guard.
Squires moves into full mount! Hawass won't be happy about that! Squires raining down hammerfists from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hawass is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Squires with shots to the head and body - Hawass looks very uncomfortable down there. BOOM! Squires connects with a massive shot to the dome!
A nice elbow there by Squires. Squires unloading with bombs! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hawass is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

It looks like DrZawi Hawass has been cut. Hawass is in a horrible position here. Squires smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Hawass is still in real trouble! Can Squires finish him? Squires unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Hawass wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Squires celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
