Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miyamoto Usagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vaughn's entrance music is Wild Thing. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Vaughn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miyamoto Usagi! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Usagi throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Vaughn counters with a lovely shot to the body. Vaughn misses with a looping left. Usagi drives through with a takedown into Vaughn's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Vaughn keeping moving, preventing Usagi from controlling successfully. Vaughn working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Usagi. Usagi works a leg free and moves into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Usagi content to control rather than advance. Vaughn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vaughn looks like he's trying to stand up.
Vaughn trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Usagi looks to land a strike but Vaughn avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Usagi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vaughn is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vaughn has escaped and now he's on top! Vaughn preventing the sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Vaughn is stalling in the full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Usagi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Vaughn sitting in guard here, content to control. Usagi trying to keep a closed guard but Vaughn is proving a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Rick Vaughn just wasn't active enough. Vaughn thows a body shot but no joy. Usagi fails with the takedown and Vaughn counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Usagi misses with an uppercut
and Vaughn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Vaughn misses the jab. Usagi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vaughn tries to avoid it but Usagi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vaughn to the ground. Vaughn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Usagi swings widly with a right hand
enabling Vaughn to counter with a crisp jab. Vaughn takes a shot to the body in his stride.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Usagi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Usagi throws an off balance right hand
and Vaughn counters with a stiff right hand. Vaughn is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Usagi. Vaughn throws a hook but Usagi avoids it easily. Usagi works over Vaughn's head and body with a nice combination. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rick Vaughn will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Vaughn misses with an uppercut
and Usagi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Usagi looking to score a takedown here. Vaughn is defending well but Usagi drives through and ends up in Vaughn's guard. Usagi forces his way into half guard. Vaughn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Usagi on the ground. Usagi not landing any meaningful shots this time. Vaughn is not content to let Usagi control the position. Usagi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Usagi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vaughn won't allow Usagi to pass to mount. Vaughn is refusing to be controlled, as Usagi sits in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Usagi tries to pass to full mount but Vaughn defends it. Vaughn is staying active underneath Usagi, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Usagi is trying to work for a kimura but Vaughn is defending well.
Vaughn gets full guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Usagi works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Vaughn tries to kick Usagi off but Usagi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Usagi is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Vaughn reverses the position - he's now on top in Usagi's guard. Usagi looking to control.
Vaughn trying to control the position from guard on top but Usagi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Usagi controls Vaughn momentarily but Vaughn frees himself. Vaughn controlling from the top position. Usagi wants to sweep here but Vaughn controlling him for the moment. Vaughn trying to control but Usagi is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Usagi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vaughn. Vaughn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Usagi was well out of range. Poor timing from Vaughn. Usagi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Miyamoto Usagi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice sprawl there from Vaughn as Usagi shoots in.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Usagi fails with the takedown. Rick Vaughn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miyamoto Usagi. Usagi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Usagi is defended easily by Vaughn. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Usagi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vaughn moves away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Miyamoto Usagi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jab from Vaughn. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Usagi misses with a double jab.

and Usagi counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Usagi shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. A left lands for Vaughn. Usagi tries to bum rush Vaughn with a series of wild strikes but Vaughn uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Usagi misses with a takedown and Usagi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vaughn throws a body punch but Usagi moves out of range. Usagi with a poor takedown and Vaughn makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. A left lands for Vaughn. Usagi throws a right hand that misses
and Usagi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A looping hook to the body misses from Vaughn. Usagi does a little dance to reset his feet. Usagi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Vaughn.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Usagi or perhaps it was just good defense by Vaughn which made him look bad. Rick Vaughn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miyamoto Usagi. Vaughn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Usagi was well out of range. Poor timing from Vaughn. Usagi goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Nice sprawl there from Vaughn as Usagi shoots in. Usagi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Vaughn to counter with a crisp jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Vaughn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Usagi.
Usagi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Vaughn counters with a straight right hand. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Usagi connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
And that's the end of the fight! Rick Vaughn showed his dominance in that final round. I think Vaughn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
