Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Wessing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cobra Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Wessing as Gracie shoots in.
Gracie tries to clinch up
and Wessing counters with a body kick that stops Gracie in his tracks momentarily.
Gracie misses with a low kick as Wessing jumps back.
Wessing has closed the distance and engaged Gracie in a clinch.
Gracie is working for takedown but Wessing is calmly controlling the position for now.
Gracie is trying to drag Wessing to the mat but Wessing just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Alex Wessing has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cobra Gracie.
Wessing prevents the takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Wessing is pressed up against the cage. Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wessing down to the mat. Wessing avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gracie dives in and grabs Wessing's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wessing pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Wessing sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wessing looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gracie looking to score a takedown here. Wessing is defending well but Gracie drives through and ends up in Wessing's guard.
Gracie is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wessing is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wessing has escaped and now he's on top!
Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wessing defends it easily.
Gracie looks gassed!
Gracie has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Wessing doesn't defend quickly enough and Gracie has managed to lock this one up! Can Wessing escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Gracie on a fantastic submission victory.
