PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker's entrance music is Will Smith vs Washed out - Summertime. A fine choice. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Paul Jones enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Jones!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Walker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Walker swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Walker misses with a body shot.
Jones fails in his attempt to clinch.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Walker checks a leg kick.
Walker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.

Jones moves into the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Jones throws an elbow but misses.

Walker tries to circle away but Jones has him pinned against the cage.
Walker wants to break free but Jones has control.

Walker successfully pulls guard.

Walker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jones manages to get himself to full guard.

Walker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Walker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jones wants to sweep here but Walker controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Walker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ground and pound from Walker seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Walker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Jones is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Walker's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Walker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

Walker is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jones has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jones!

Walker throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Dan Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Jones.

Walker throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Walker is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Walker takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Dan Walker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Walker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Walker swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Walker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Walker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
