Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Redfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Redfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Joseph Jones and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper with a poor takedown

and Redfield counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Cooper looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Redfield thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Redfield has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Redfield with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redfield engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Redfield trying to control the position from guard on top but Cooper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Redfield tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cooper knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Cooper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Redfield is controlling the pace.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Redfield's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cooper has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Redfield.

Redfield seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cooper for as long as he can get away with.

Redfield decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cooper, up you get!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Redfield decides to stand and escape the position.

Redfield shoots in and gets a takedown into Cooper's guard.
Redfield is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cooper looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Redfield sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cooper's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Redfield shoots in for a takedown but Cooper shows good takedown defense.
Cooper throws a head kick that misses

and Redfield counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Redfield gets to his feet. Cooper looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Redfield shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cooper sprawls well. Cooper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Redfield gets slowly back to his feet.

Redfield has closed the distance and engaged Cooper in a clinch.

Redfield manages to break the clinch.

Redfield shoots in and gets a takedown into Cooper's guard.
Cooper is controlling Redfield's posture.
Redfield throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cooper works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Redfield is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cooper looking to hit a scissor sweep but Redfield is one step ahead there.
Cooper is trying to keep Redfield in close.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Redfield decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chris Redfield overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Redfield, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
