PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Krendal Svorak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jayden Fuego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jayden Fuego struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Krendal Svorak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jayden Fuego!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Svorak fails with the takedown.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Svorak.
Svorak shoots in looking for a takedown. Fuego tries to sprawl out of it but Svorak keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fuego manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krendal Svorak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Svorak shoots in for a takedown but Fuego shows good takedown defense.
Fuego throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Svorak has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Fuego.

Fuego wants to control but instead Svorak manages to regain half guard.
Svorak tries to roll over but Fuego keeps him under control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Fuego connects with a nice short shot to Svorak's temple.
Svorak tries to get to full guard but Fuego has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fuego stalling away here and it's allowed Svorak to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Svorak has his foot on Fuego's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fuego works his way back into a safe position though.
Svorak really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fuego is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Fuego has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Fuego is pressing down on Svorak's thigh, looking to free his foot. Svorak is holding on for now.
Fuego is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Svorak tries to get to full guard but Fuego has control of the leg.

Fuego working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Svorak's thigh. Svorak counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Svorak has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fuego can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fuego must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Svorak looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fuego is one step ahead there.
Svorak wants to stand and escape but Fuego is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fuego trying to control but Svorak is working from the bottom.
Svorak bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fuego's guard.
Svorak trying to control the position from guard on top but Fuego is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Svorak is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fuego keeping moving, preventing Svorak from controlling successfully.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fuego lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Svorak!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jayden Fuego dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Svorak misses with a takedown

and Fuego decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Svorak's guard.

Svorak has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fuego can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fuego should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Svorak feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Svorak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fuego swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Svorak has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fuego is proving hard to escape from.
Svorak is pushing down on Fuego's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fuego is fighting to maintain full guard but Svorak has managed to sneak the leg through.

Svorak has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Svorak wants to pass the guard but Fuego is keeping the position.
Svorak slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Svorak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fuego swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fuego wants to stand and escape but Svorak is having none of it.
Fuego controls Svorak momentarily but Svorak frees himself.

Svorak is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fuego is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Svorak throws a sloppy head kick

and Fuego decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Svorak's guard.

Fuego takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Svorak wants to sweep here but Fuego controlling him for the moment.

Fuego drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fuego jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Svorak had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Fuego is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Svorak Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Fuego's back instead.

Fuego wants to control his opponent's hands but Svorak gets his hands free.
Fuego breaks Svorak's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Fuego tries to stand but Svorak is controlling from the bottom.
Svorak not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Svorak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Svorak throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Fuego escapes and throws Svorak's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Svorak manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fuego's best efforts.

Jayden Fuego comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fuego has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
