Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Lappin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Madden Rush! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lappin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rush to score an easy takedown into full guard. Rush slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Lappin being controlled for a moment. Rush working the ground and pound but Lappin is defending the strikes. Lappin is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Rush thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Rush working the ground and pound from side control. Rush wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lappin, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lappin wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Rush moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Lappin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lappin tries to get out of the position. Rush thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Lappin taking a bit of punishment here - Rush scoring with strikes. Lappin wants to get back to his feet. Rush landing a few strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rush wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lappin, who protects the arm well. Rush scores with a couple of short elbows. Rush is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lappin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rush working the head with strikes. Lappin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rush on the ground. Rush has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Lappin is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rush yanks on the arm and Lappin is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rush.
