PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudi Dassler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dassler is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ticon - The Programmer. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rudi Dassler!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee tries to clinch but Dassler is having none of it.
Dassler fails with a takedown attempt.
Dassler has a takedown stuffed.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Dassler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Dassler closes the distance and clinches.
Lee is trying to break the clinch but Dassler has him pressed against the cage.

Dassler works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Dassler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Lee tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dassler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dassler has a takedown stuffed.
Peter Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudi Dassler.
Lee throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Dassler.
A head kick by Dassler misses
and Lee counters with an inside leg kick.
Dassler looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dassler defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lee.
Lee tries to clinch up but Dassler circles away and keeps his distance.

Dassler closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lee's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dassler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lee can't keep his opponent in guard - Dassler advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lee looks like he's trying to stand up.

Dassler is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dassler prevents Lee from standing back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dassler escapes and gets back to his feet.
Lee throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Dassler shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lee as he jumps to the side.
Lee slaps away a takedown attempt from Dassler, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dassler shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense.
Lee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lee scores with a push kick.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dassler swivels and escapes.
Lee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dassler defends it nicely.
Lee looks for a takedown but Dassler sprawls well.
Lee fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dassler avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dassler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Dassler is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lee has managed to free his arm - good work.

Dassler decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Lee fails with a takedown attempt.

so Dassler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Dassler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dassler but Dassler pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Dassler shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dassler showed some decent athleticism there.

Dassler gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dassler moves into the clinch.

Dassler decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rudi Dassler dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A low kick from Dassler misses
and Lee counters with a one-two to the body.

Dassler has closed the distance and engaged Lee in a clinch.
Lee is trying to break free.
Dassler is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Dassler lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Dassler is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lee is just riding it out for now. Dassler eventually gives up the hold.

Dassler decides to return to a standing position.

Dassler shoots in for a takedown but Lee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dassler is breathing heavily.

Dassler fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lee sprawls well initially but Dassler persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Lee trying to control but Dassler postures up.
Lee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lee.
Dassler wanted to stand there but Lee had control of the position.

Lee looking for a guillotine here but Dassler defends easily.
Lee might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dassler gets to his feet. Lee looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Lee shoots and misses

and Dassler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lee's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dassler gets to his feet. Lee looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Dassler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Lee!

Dassler get's back to his feet.

Dassler throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lee tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dassler is in Lee's guard.

Lee is looking for a triangle but Dassler pushes his legs off easily.

Dassler gets to his feet - Lee follows without any prompting.

Dassler moves into the clinch.

Lee decides to pull guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Dassler stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Dassler looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Peter Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudi Dassler.
Dassler swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.
Lee scores with a three punch combo!

and Dassler counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lee's guard now.
Dassler wanted to stand there but Lee had control of the position.
Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dassler is one step ahead there.

Dassler stands up and waves to Lee to follow him.

Dassler fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Lee. No joy for Dassler on that attempt.
Lee lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Lee lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lee tries to clinch there but Dassler circles away.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Dassler pushes him off.
Lee misses the shot to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Dassler which made him look bad.

Dassler looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rudi Dassler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Lee fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Dassler to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Dassler decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lee misses with a few strikes there.
Dassler misses with the combination.
Dassler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Peter Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lee wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dassler blocks a head kick by Lee.
Lee tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dassler swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dassler gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Lee tries to keep at a distance but Dassler has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lee tries to pull guard but Dassler won't allow it.
Lee prevents the takedown attempt.
Dassler throws a punch but it's blocked by Lee.
Lee has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dassler has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dassler stops a takedown attempt from Lee.

Dassler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lee defends well.
Dassler wants to stand but Lee is controlling the position.
Rudi Dassler has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee won't allow Dassler to sweep him here.

Dassler looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dassler keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully.

Dassler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dassler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lee forces his way into half guard.
Lee thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dassler's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dassler tries to kick Lee off but Lee keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lee not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dassler is trying to stand back up but Lee is controlling him
Lee is keen to just control but Dassler is a slippery customer.
Dassler wants to get back to full guard but Lee has passed into side control.
Lee postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Lee tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lee has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dassler tries to bench press Lee off him but Lee keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dassler is not content to let Lee control the position.

Lee looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Dassler is looking to regain half guard here but Lee keeps moving and retains side control.
Peter Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rudi Dassler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Dassler tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rudi Dassler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Dassler winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
