PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trey Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kalyan Kumar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalyan Kumar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trey Stout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kalyan Kumar!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kumar avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stout avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stout avoids the body shot from Kumar.
Stout shoots in looking for a takedown. Kumar tries to sprawl out of it but Stout keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kumar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stout moves away from the strike by Kumar.
Stout rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kumar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kumar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stout manages to avoid it.
Kumar scores with a jab to the head.


It looks like Trey Stout has been cut.

Stout scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Stout is working for a kimura but Kumar is defending it quite comfortably.

Stout throws some wild stikes that Kumar manages to avoid easily.

Stout throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Kumar because Stout loaded up on that one.

Stout jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kumar is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kumar and Stout has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Stout throwing strikes but Kumar manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Stout looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kumar is fending him off so far but Stout persists. Nope, Kumar circles away and we're back to standing.

Kumar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

That was a close second round but I would say that Trey Stout will probably get the nod.

Stout sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trey Stout.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stout, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
