The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miheev tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily enabling Silva to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Valera Miheev has been cut. Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Silva wants to break free but Miheev has control.
Miheev has Silva pressed against the cage, preventing Silva from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Miheev is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Silva breaks from the clinch.

Silva tries to break free but Miheev pushes him back against the cage. Silva has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Silva has Miheev pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Silva pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Miheev tumbling to the mat - Silva dives into Miheev's guard. The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Anderson Silva . Silva displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Miheev circles away from the clinch attempt and Miheev counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that. Miheev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Silva has his feet on Miheev's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva closes the distance but Miheev moves to the side so Miheev counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Miheev could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Silva looking to control but Miheev passes into half guard.
Silva scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Miheev manages to mount him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miheev controlling from the full mount. Miheev prevents Silva from getting the reversal. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Miheev tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Anderson Silva will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Valera Miheev's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Miheev slips under a jab from Silva . Miheev fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Silva to the ground. Miheev is now in Silva 's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miheev forces his way into half guard. Miheev not doing much here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Miheev asserts his dominance and retains side control. Miheev taking a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Miheev has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Silva is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Miheev in side control, just content to control the action for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Valera Miheev. Silva misses with a head kick.
Anderson Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Silva throws a nice looking combination but Miheev bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Miheev checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Silva misses with a two punch combination.
Anderson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Miheev drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Silva gets the underhooks and prevents it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Silva breaks from the clinch.
Miheev shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Miheev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Valera Miheev. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silva wants it to stay on the feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Silva wants to clinch and Miheev counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silva ! Silva is trying desperately to improve position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Valera Miheev dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Valera Miheev's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Silva wants to stand and escape but Miheev is having none of it. Miheev is standing up over Silva . Silva looks to escape but Miheev dives into side control.
