Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dwyane Wade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Shields!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wade cracks Shields with a good jab.
A lazy body kick from Shields
and Wade makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Wade gets caught napping as Shields dives in and scores a takedown. Wade manages to retain guard.
Wade wants to stand and escape but Shields is having none of it.
Wade trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Shields throws and elbow that misses. Wade uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shields's guard. Nice move by Wade!
Shields is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shields wants to control the position but Wade says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shields wants to control but Wade is keeping busy.
Shields wants to get back to his feet.

Shields is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wade pulls his head out easily.
Wade tries to stand and escape but Shields actually recovers to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wade gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Wade lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Wade.


It looks like Jake Shields has been cut.

Shields shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Wade tries to kick Shields off but Shields keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shields wants to stand but Wade has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wade won't allow Shields to pass to mount.
Shields looks to land a strike but Wade avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Shields stops Wade from standing up.
Shields looking to sit in guard and control but Wade gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shields is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Shields is trying to control the position but Wade postures up.
Shields looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Shields wasn't active enough on the ground.
Wade scores with a hook to the body. Shields takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dwyane Wade dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A decent looking cross lands there for Wade.
Wade lands a glancing blow to the side of Shields's head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Wade darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Shields shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Shields stops Wade from getting back to his feet.
Shields wants to take a breather but Wade is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shields throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Shields wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wade keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Shields was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wade lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Shields closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wade to the mat! Wade manages to get full guard.
Wade wants to stand but Shields is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shields wants to stand and escape but instead Wade has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Shields is looking for a triangle but Wade pushes his legs off easily.
Shields is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wade stops Shields from standing up.
Shields wants to sweep but no luck.
Shields working a defensive guard but Wade passes into half guard.
Shields trying to control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jake Shields has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A cross from Wade lands.
Shields has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Wade finds it's way round the side to connect with Shields's head.
Good standup being displayed there by Wade as he connects with a hook.
Dwyane Wade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wade blocks a head kick by Shields.
Shields is breathing heavily.
Wade scores with a one two! Shields had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


Shields is rocked!
Wade connects with a right hand. Shields shakes it off.
Shields is still on wobbly legs! Can Wade finish him?
Shields walks straight into a right hand from Wade - that's dropped him! Wade jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Shields from any more punishment! Shields complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Dwyane Wade!
