Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Primo Calavarra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Stephenson!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calavarra getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Calavarra moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Calavarra misses with a combination

so Stephenson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stephenson trying to control the position from guard on top but Calavarra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stephenson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Calavarra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stephenson has managed to get both his arms back between Calavarra's legs - danger averted.

Calavarra has his foot on Stephenson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stephenson works his way back into a safe position though.

Stephenson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Calavarra, up you get!
Calavarra shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Stephenson eats them both and turns towards Calavarra to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Calavarra throws a left and a right that both miss

and Stephenson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Calavarra!
Calavarra is trying desperately to improve position.
Stephenson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Calavarra is desperately trying to improve his position but Stephenson has a good base and remains in mount.
Dave Stephenson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stephenson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Calavarra slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Stephenson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Calavarra is looking to sinch up a triangle. Stephenson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Calavarra's body to avoid the submission. Calavarra has instead reached around Stephenson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Calavarra arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
