Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Konan Obrien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonny Boy!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boy tries to clinch but Obrien is having none of it.
Boy tries to clinch but Obrien moves away
and Obrien counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Jonny Boy has been cut.
Boy wants to clinch but Obrien slips to the side
and Obrien counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Boy down! Obrien is looking to finish but Boy is intelligently defending himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boy keeping moving, preventing Obrien from controlling successfully.
Boy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Obrien's guard.
Obrien is pulling down on Boy's head. It's preventing any offense from Boy, at least for the moment.
Obrien wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Obrien trying to keep a closed guard but Boy is proving a slippery customer.
Boy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Konan Obrien.
Boy wants to clinch.
Boy misses with a left hand
and Obrien counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Boy closes the distance but Obrien moves to the side
and Obrien counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Boy looks gassed!
A slapping leg kick lands for Obrien.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Obrien lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Boy at a distance.
Boy on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Obrien. Obrien obviously looking to wear him down.
Jonny Boy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Obrien tries to bum rush Boy with a series of wild strikes but Boy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Obrien swings widly with a right hand
and Boy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Obrien works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boy moves to clinch but Obrien breaks away
and Obrien counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Obrien swings for the body but Boy moves out of range.
Obrien scores with a crisp jab that stopped Boy in his tracks.
Boy slips under a jab.
Boy wants to clinch but Obrien slips to the side
and Obrien connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Boy closes the distance but Obrien moves to the side
and Boy is countered with a crisp right hand from Obrien that sends him to the canvas! Obrien follows him to the mat into side control.
Boy is rocked!
That has opened up Jonny Boy's cut even more.
Obrien in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Boy looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Obrien turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Konan Obrien!
