Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Maddox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Santi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 2, fighting out of New York, Ken Maddox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Santi!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maddox was covering up waiting for the punch and Santi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Santi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Maddox is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Santi, into his guard.
Maddox has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Santi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Santi looking for a sweep. Not yet Santi, not yet.
Maddox with a flurry of punches that miss.
Maddox thows a big elbow that misses.
Maddox loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Maddox throws and elbow that misses. Santi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Maddox's guard. Nice move by Santi!

Maddox is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Santi is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maddox keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Maddox manages to escape and get back to his feet!

and Maddox counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Santi's guard now.

Maddox is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Santi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Maddox throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Santi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Maddox throws a strike but Santi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Santi wants to control from the top but Maddox keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ken Maddox will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Maddox accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Santi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Maddox!

Santi working for a submission but Maddox is keeping him at bay.

Santi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Maddox turns into him and now he's in Santi's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Santi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maddox manages to get himself to full guard.

Maddox manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Santi fails with the takedown

and Maddox decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Santi's guard.

Maddox postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Maddox's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Maddox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Santi has control of Maddox's left arm, preventing Maddox from doing any damage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Maddox seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Santi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Santi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Santi has his takedown stuffed
enabling Maddox to counter with a crisp jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Maddox dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Santi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Maddox wants to improve his position but Santi is controlling well.
Maddox gets back to full guard.
Maddox is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Santi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Santi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Maddox wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Santi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Maddox sees it coming and defends easily.

Santi not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Santi is keen to just control but Maddox is a slippery customer.

Chris Santi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Santi tries to pass to full mount but Maddox defends it.
Santi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Maddox's head.
Santi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Maddox is trying to maintain the position but Santi is very close to passing his half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Maddox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Santi but Santi pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Maddox drives through with a takedown into Santi's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Santi is looking for a triangle but Maddox pushes his legs off easily.
Maddox looking to sit in guard and control but Santi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Santi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Maddox tries to land a sweep but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Santi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Maddox has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
