Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Matyushenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vladimir Matyushenko!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Matyushenko shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Matyushenko thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bryan is refusing to be controlled, as Matyushenko sits in half guard.

Matyushenko is looking for submissions but instead, Bryan has regained full guard.

Matyushenko has gone for a leg lock! Bryan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Matyushenko's guard.

Matyushenko working for a triangle but Bryan defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matyushenko can't keep his opponent in guard - Bryan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Bryan has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Matyushenko is trying to escape the mount.
Matyushenko is squirming around, avoiding Bryan's attempts to control the action.
Matyushenko is trying to reverse the position but instead Bryan has taken his back - oops!
Matyushenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bryan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Matyushenko's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Matyushenko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bryan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bryan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bryan!

Matyushenko is desperately trying to improve his position but Bryan has a good base and remains in mount.
Matyushenko looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Bryan is looking to control Matyushenko but Matyushenko is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Matyushenko wants to escape the position.
Matyushenko prevents Bryan from getting a body triangle.
Bryan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Matyushenko looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bryan controlling well, preventing Matyushenko from escaping the position.
Bryan is trying to stick to Matyushenko's back but Matyushenko is turning into Bryan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Bryan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Matyushenko.

We're going to have a standup here because Daniel Bryan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bryan fails with the takedown

and Matyushenko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bryan is breathing heavily.

Matyushenko is looking for a kimura but Bryan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matyushenko to get the leverage.

Matyushenko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bryan defends it well.

That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Bryan will probably get the nod.

Matyushenko doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Bryan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Matyushenko won't be happy with that.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Matyushenko is refusing to be controlled, as Bryan sits in half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bryan wants to pass to mount but Matyushenko is defending the position.
Matyushenko is in trouble now - Bryan has advanced to mount!
Bryan tries to control but Matyushenko wriggling away.

Matyushenko sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Matyushenko wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Daniel Bryan dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Bryan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Well Bryan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
